Accountant/Bookkeeper

Qualifications:

      Education:
    • Preferred - Associates Degree with a major in accounting or completion of two years of college coursework with an emphasis in accounting
    • Minimum - High School Diploma or GED with 2 years classroom training in bookkeeping

General Position Description:

This position requires accounting work of some difficulty and the maintenance of a complete set of accounts and fiscal records for the capture and summarization of financial transactions utilizing a computerized dealership management system

Dealership accounting is deceptively complex and success requires knowledge of accounting theory, principles and procedures and the application of that knowledge within a well-defined standard system designed for use by Harley-Davidson motorcycle dealerships. The position occupant will be responsible for the operation of all accounting related features of the dealership management software.

Daily work is performed independently but is subject to periodic review and audit by CFO and by external accountants. The ability to positively interact with non-financial personnel and interpret financial information to assist them in executing their responsibilities is a very desirable skill.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Resolve accounting issues as they arise in the daily processing of dealership transactions.
  • Prepare daily bank deposits by compiling and reconciling accounting reports and media from point of sale cash drawers with receipts accepted in currency, checks and credit cards.
  • Examine and distribute vendor invoices and other payment requests to appropriate general ledger account classifications.
  • Maintain vendor records and track outstanding obligations payable by due date so as to optimize cash flow and take full advantage of attractive vendor payment terms.
  • Issue checks in payment of merchandise purchases, supplies, services and customer accommodations.
  • Comply with Department of Motor Vehicle regulations, file all required reports, and remit all payments on a timely basis.
  • Reconcile all subsidiary ledgers to general ledger control balances monthly. In some cases, maintain spreadsheets or other auxiliary sub-ledgers to supplement standard accounting software capabilities.
  • Prepare and review monthly trial balances, general ledger detail postings, financial statements and other financial reports and statistics. Investigate any anomalies and prepare general journal entries to adjust accounts and reports to appropriate amounts. Distribute reviewed financial reports to management together with narrative comments to assist in understanding important results and trends.

Hours of Work, Compensation and Supervision:

  • Position reports directly to CFO.
  • Compensation amount dependent upon qualifications.

Detailer / Shop Assistant / Driver

The House of Harley-Davidson is seeking multiple full-time (nights and weekends) experienced Detailer/Shop Assistant/Driver that will be working in a dynamic team environment. Come join the biggest, busiest dealership group in Wisconsin. Positions available in Milwaukee and Racine!

Applicant must have at least 2+ years of detailing experience, Experience driving a Truck and trailers up to 32ft in length. Applicant must also have strong work ethic, attention to detail, demonstrate pride in their work and must be flexible as this position may require occasional weekend work and/or extended hours. Perfect attendance is expected as we are an extremely busy dealership with the need for quick turn-around times. Drug test and background check will be required upon hire.

Detailer Job Responsibilities

  • Ability to thoroughly clean, detail, buff, and polish a motorcycle at a high level of speed and accuracy
  • Ability to repair scratches/scuffs in painted parts as well as polish blemishes in chrome/aluminum
  • Ability to notice and bring attention to problems prior to motorcycle leaving the department
  • Occasionally assist in miscellaneous department tasks
  • Other job duties and tasks assigned by supervisor

Shop Assistant/Driver Responsibilities

Keep Department Orderly –

  • Keep department and surrounding areas clean and free of clutter.
  • Pick up and dispose of trash and cardboard
  • Store take-off / damage parts properly
  • Verify Motorcycles are located in the proper area of the department based on status

Help Maintain Productivity-

  • Assist in Oil Barrel/Brake Clean Change over
  • Remove discarded tires from shop and stack for pickup
  • Assist Technicians when requested and able
  • Wash Motorcycles after completed services
  • Assist in uncrating of new motorcycles
  • Deliver motorcycles to front of service when customers arrive for pick up
  • Cleaning Trucks/Trailers prior to events and heavy traffic
  • Deliver / Pick-up Motorcycles / Parts
  • Safe and reliable transport of ALL motorcycles.
  • Pick up of dealer-located parts

Dealership Assistance

  • Assist with setup and take down of equipment for events - may require lifting 75-100 lbs
  • Assist with seasonal outdoor projects/assignments
  • May be asked to perform other duties or tasks to support the dealership

Required experience:

  • Must have 2-5+ years’ experience as a detailer/porter (motorcycle specific a major plus)
  • Must have valid driver’s license with motorcycle endorsement
  • Must have the ability to move and operate motorcycle safely.
  • Pay based on experience
  • Must have experience in driving a Truck and Trailers up to 32ft in length.
  • Must be able to move/ride motorcycles weighing in excess of 700 lbs

Year Long Paid Marketing and Special Events Intern

Internship

Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Events and in collaboration with the Digital Marketing and Events Manager, the Marketing and Special Events Intern is responsible for the success of all events and support to the marketing department. Tasks include operational planning and execution for events large and small both onsite and offsite; Develop and manage vendors, promotional specialists/bartenders and other staff as needed for events; capture photography and leads at events; and update store marketing materials.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

      Operational Events Coordination
    • Participate in planning of annual calendar of events
    • Work with internal stakeholders to provide marketing materials and promotional support
    • Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Events execute the planned layout at events.
    • Quote event expenses and coordinate delivery and pick up of any event items.
    • Coordinate set up and tear down responsibilities
    • Support all offsite and onsite events.
      Develop and manage Vendor and Promotional Specialists/Bartenders
    • Stay on top of new trends in area events and things happening in our marketplace
    • Work with equipment vendors to secure best pricing for items such as tents, bars, stages, equipment, etc
    • Create and manage Promotional Specialists/Bartenders schedules and contact database
    • Schedule Event Staff as needed
      Capture Photography and Leads at Events
    • Capture photos and create videos at events for marketing and event recap purposes.
    • Set up Lead Generating items at events like Register to Wins and deliver these leads to the Director of Marketing and Events.
      Updating Store Marketing Materials
    • Upon arrival of Corporate Marketing Materials, deliver all assets to department managers and confirm placement of items.
    • Make sure all expired items are removed and disposed of or stored for future.
      Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

      A qualified candidate would have the following:

    • Be enrolled in an accredited college with the ability to obtain internship credit for at least one semester of their current college year or be willing to work unpaid for a semester.
    • Be majoring in an area of study such as Advertising, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or related field.
    • Ability to work May 1 2017-end of April 2018.
    • Self-starter and time management pro.
    • Professional attitude.
    • Must be available to work some weekends and evenings.
    • Must be able to lift 30lbs.
    • Must have a reliable mode of transportation and valid driver's license
    • Motorcycle experience NOT required!
    • Experience in event management and videography a plus!
